James Burden, DDS & Amy Eveland, OM
Amy Eveland is the regional office manager for Dr. James Burden's practices, which have grown from a single office to four practices plus a call center. She has attended the New Patient Workshop three or four times and brings staff each time. The workshop shaped how the group designs its mailings and websites, tracks outflow every week, trains receptionists to convert marketing calls, and manages outside marketing contractors. Dr. Burden reports that new patients were on a downward trend and are now back where they should be, and that he has less stress with associates and a management team running the business side.
Dr. David Shannon has practiced for 45 years and bought his current San Fernando Valley office in 2008, just before the recession cut his practice by 60 to 70 percent. When he first spoke with MGE he was collecting about $35,000 a month and considering selling. After the New Patient Workshop, collections went to $75,000 a month within about a year, new patients went from six a month to 52, referrals reached 18 in a single month, Google reviews more than doubled, and he added a hygienist four days a week. At 71 he describes practice as a game he enjoys every day.
Dr. Nathan Owens practices in Pulaski, Tennessee, a town of about 10,000 people. Before the New Patient Workshop his office was doing roughly a million dollars a year on 30-some new patients a month. After implementing what he learned, new patients jumped to 50 to 60 a month, and five years on the practice sees 90 to well over 100 new patients a month, produces over 3 million a year out of 11 operatories with 38 employees, and has added a second location. He now works three days a week and has a staff member running the marketing.
Dr. Sumbul Naqvi practices in the Framingham, Massachusetts area, which she describes as a low-income market that used to bring her mostly state-insurance patients. She has attended the New Patient Workshop every year since 2014 to keep her marketing current. New patients went from 20 to 25 a month, where they sat despite heavy marketing spend, to a high of 72 a month, with more fee-for-service and implant patients. Her team's review program took the office from about 40 Google reviews to over 200, and she now directs her outside marketing vendors herself.
Dr. Umar Haque came to the New Patient Workshop skeptical, having been through three other consulting groups. He and his team implemented the workshop material immediately: the month before the workshop was one of the office's worst ever, the month after was its best ever, and production rose 40% the following month. Their review program, social media and a rebuilt website took new patients from three to five a month to around 40 a month in the years since.
Dr. Chris Sims and his wife Monica of Hamilton, Ontario took over a small, conservative practice knowing how to do dentistry but not how to run a business: 60-hour weeks, no real control, and eight to ten new patients a month. Told by MGE they could double the practice in 90 days, they didn't believe it, then did it, and have since 4Xed production and collections, now seeing over 100 new patients a month with a team that shares their vision.
Dr. Gerardo Mercado of Los Angeles bought his practice but still felt like the associate: staff ran their own areas, nothing progressed, and he had no real control. Through the MGE Power Program's leadership and management training he now walks in as a business owner first and a provider second, and within about a year and a half his practice had more than doubled in both collections and new patients.
Dr. Ken Cirka joined MGE seeing about 10 new patients a month in a downtown Philadelphia high-rise shared with 30 other dentists. After 15 years applying MGE's marketing and management systems, his Center City practice has grown more than 25-fold, averages 137 new patients a month on a marketing budget under 3%, employs 20 full-time staff, and has been named the largest dental practice in Philadelphia, while he has stepped back from day-to-day dentistry.
Arvind Philomin, DDS & Divya Adusumilli, DDS
How did you start out? Arvind: I went to NYU College of Dentistry and graduated in 2002. Divya: I also went to NYU College of Dentistry and graduated in 2006. After…
COVID knocked Dr. Swarrup's solid practice off its feet — staff and hygienists lost, patients staying away. The MGE New Patient Workshop 'flipped a switch,' and the Power Program followed with concrete practice-management structure and hiring strategies, revitalizing the practice and growing it 50% in just six months.
Rushi Trivedi & Dr. Shilpa Trivedi
Engineer Rushi Trivedi left a Wall Street career to run the business side of his wife Dr. Shilpa Trivedi's practice, which she'd bought within a year of graduating and was working six days a week to sustain. Through MGE's Power Program they've achieved 8X growth, built two thriving practices, and — most importantly for them — reclaimed time together.
Dr. Wisnuski — Elite Dental (Holland, MI)
With 30 years in practice, Dr. Wisnuski of Holland, Michigan had almost no online presence and averaged 10–15 new patients a month — and assumed that was fine. After the MGE New Patient Workshop he built an organized, trackable marketing presence and tripled new patients within a few months.
After buying a dead practice and renovating it, Dr. Cyrus and his wife were doing everything themselves — including the cleanings — and coming home exhausted. With MGE's help they built a proper hygiene program, growing from two days of hygiene to ten in two years, and are now applying the same systems to revive a second practice.
In this Zoom testimonial, Dr. Bryant Nguyen of Flower Mound, Texas describes life before and after the MGE Power Program: collections have quadrupled and he's now working only three days a week. He explains why he's happy to talk to other doctors about MGE any time he's asked.
After 20 years in practice, Dr. Rich Richmond of New York felt he needed a new way of thinking about marketing and growing his office. Following the MGE New Patient Workshop and work with the MGE marketing system, his practice stays productive while he's down to just two clinical days per week.
2018 was the busiest year in Dr. Mark's 11 years of practice — and one of his least enjoyable: chaotic scheduling, capacity issues, and a team unsure how to coordinate a growing office. He shares how MGE training brought organization, defined roles, and ongoing staff training to what had been a chaotic dental office.
Dr. Ryan Deppner — Blue Ash, OH
Dr. Ryan Deppner of Blue Ash, Ohio had a big, successful practice — but collections had plateaued for years and he was burning out in his mid-30s in one of the heaviest PPO practices around. Through the MGE Power Program he added structure and policy, doubled collections, and cut his clinical schedule to three days a week.
Practicing in the highly competitive Arlington, Texas metroplex, Dr. McLeck quadrupled his new patient numbers after the MGE New Patient Workshop. He explains how the MGE marketing system changed both the volume of marketing his office does and the way he thinks about marketing altogether.
Cyrus Allafi, DDS & Sara Saba, DDS
Power Program graduates Dr. Cyrus Allafi and Dr. Sara Saba of Silver Spring, Maryland share how MGE training helped them quadruple their practice while actually working less. They discuss why they took time out of their family life to tell other doctors about the program, unpaid and unscripted, and what changed in the way they run the office.
Dr. Aaron Nop — ABC Family Dentistry (Greeneville, TN)
Dr. Aaron Nop of ABC Family Dentistry in northeast Tennessee spent eight years in military and community-health dentistry before purchasing a practice that was only open two days a week. As an MGE Power Program client, he's grown the practice exponentially over 12 years — and, just as importantly, genuinely enjoys coming to work.
